PERFORMANCES Since 2010, Desireé has performed at over 70 universities in the United States, Canada, and Australia. She travels internationally and domestically throughout the year for a myriad of readings. She has written and performed commissioned work for such entities as Oxford University and The Vagina Monologues. Desireé’s performances are all at once hilarious, somber, informative, challenging, and innovative. She has performed at mental health events, sexual assault awareness rallies, high school classrooms and assemblies, colleges and universities, and grassroots organizations. Desireé has been a finalist at every major poetry slam in the United States, and she has performed on countless stages. WORKSHOPS Desireé began teaching in public schools 14 years ago and became the artistic and program director at the only youth spoken word and social justice writing organization in the state of Louisiana. While at Forward Arts and in her independent teaching practice, Desireé has designed hundreds of workshops and taught them in classes ranging from 2nd grade classrooms to PhD seminars. She specializes in high school aged young people and adults, but has taught all age levels. With 14 years of teaching experience, she has a large curriculum that she has used all over the world.
