PERFORMANCES Since 2010, Desireé has performed at over 70 universities in the United States, Canada, and Australia. She travels internationally and domestically throughout the year for a myriad of readings. She has written and performed commissioned work for such entities as Oxford University and The Vagina Monologues. Desireé’s performances are all at once hilarious, somber, informative, challenging, and innovative. She has performed at mental health events, sexual assault awareness rallies, high school classrooms and assemblies, colleges and universities, and grassroots organizations. Desireé has been a finalist at every major poetry slam in the United States, and she has performed on countless stages. Her readings range in length and structure, and can be catered to your organizations or schools needs.

WORKSHOPS Desireé is the artistic and program director at the only youth spoken word and social justice writing organizations in the state of Louisiana. At Forward Arts, Desireé has designed hundreds of workshops and taught them everywhere from 2nd grade classrooms to PhD seminars. She regularly leads workshops on writing poetry, performing poetry, teaching poetry, and developing youth spoken word pedagogy; and social justice issues such as feminism, sexual violence, and gender politics. She specializes in high school aged young people, but has taught all age levels. With 10 years of teaching experience, she has a large curriculum that she has used all over the world.
